Dining Hall Mural

One of the more delightful projects we've worked on recently has been creating a mural for West Hampstead Primary School.

The brief was "Field to Fork." And the clients: the School Council. i.e. some very vocal 8-11 year-olds They were somewhat less demanding than our usual clients... but every bit as meticulous. Particularly when it came to the fox. There was a lot of discussion about the fox.

Working closely with the children and Head throughout the process, this mural was a Parents’ Association-funded project. An original illustration was designed, inspired by British farmland and countryside, bringing together flora and fauna in a deliberately stylised and slightly fanciful landscape. The aim was to create something engaging, immersive and full of little details to discover over time.

Hand painted over a week, the look on the children’s faces was worth every minute. And it has been commented that a sense of ‘calm and awe’ has come over lunchtimes, and the children can ‘miss their mouths’ whilst eating!
